Week 17th

December 21st 2011:

Week 17th

It was my first appointment with my doctor. I heard for the first time the heartbeat of our baby. Unfortunately, Thomas was not around as at that moment he was up above the air flying from Finland after 8 days business trip. It was an amazing feeling knowing that our baby is healthy, the heartbeat is between 150-160 per minute. After seeing my doctor, I booked another appointment from the receptionist and this time with the midwife. So the next day, I met my midwife together with Thomas. Her name is Nicki Short, a very sweet lady. We discussed about our health history and other important things about my pregnancy. We talked about options of where and how when delivery come. She let us hear the heartbeat again for the second time, and now Thomas had the chance to enjoy the moment. Blood test and urine samples was also given.

We are still not sure how many weeks I am pregnant, as I haven’t had the dating scan yet. But on our own computation I’m on my 17th week.

A couple of days ago I went to see the nurse in the clinic after the results from the urine test came back, and she told me that I had Urinary Tract Infection (UTI), so I was referred to see the doctor immediately as they said it was not common to have UTI on this early stage of pregnancy. The doctor therefore prescribed me antibiotic for the infection, 4 capsules a day for 5 days.

We celebrated Christmas eve with a lot of fun, had a  surprise visit from Santa Claus and a nice traditional Danish Christmas dinner.
